Greetings from Florianópolis!

Hello everyone! Rick here. Originally from the US, I've been living as a nomad in Latin America since 2021. I've lived in Bogotá, Medellín, San Juan (Puerto Rico), Santiago and Buenos Aires, and I recently moved to Florianópolis, Brazil. I'll head back to Bogotá from time to time, and plan to add Mexico to the mix in 2026.

Sounds like you’ve built quite the Latin American nomad circuit already 😄 and Florianópolis is such a beautiful choice to slow down a bit between adventures. Beaches, surf, and a relaxed vibe… hard to beat that combo!

Would love to hear your take on how life in Floripa compares to cities like Medellín or Buenos Aires. Always cool to hear firsthand insights from someone who’s lived across so many nomad hotspots.

Thanks! Excited to be here! Hard to compare Floripa with any major city, as it's a completely different lifestyle. I came here for a break from big-city life in Bogotá, to be surrounded by nature and to be near the beach, and I'm really enjoying the tranquility, open spaces, and fresh air. For me, Medellín is good for short stays, but all the passport bros and tourists are a turnoff. I prefer the more temperate and much less touristy Bogotá. I'd go back to Buenos Aires for the charming urban neighborhoods.
