I’m looking to buy an eBook reader that will be with me pretty much everywhere (planes, buses, cafés, hostels, coworking spaces, even sometimes outdoors at the beach), so I wanted to pick the brain of those of you who read often on the go.
I mostly read novels, but I also want the option to occasionally check PDFs, guides, or articles I’ve saved. My main concern when looking for the best eBook reader size is striking the right balance between portability (something I won’t mind carrying daily in a backpack or even jacket pocket) and readability (a screen that isn’t so small that I’m flipping pages constantly or straining my eyes).
Here’s what I care about most:
One-hand usability (for buses, trains, reading in bed, etc.)
Lightweight and compact enough for long-term travel
Good front light with warm light option for night reading
Decent battery life so I’m not always hunting for outlets
Ability to sideload files and ideally handle more than just DRM-locked ebooks
So, I want to ask you all: what size eBook reader has worked best for you? Is the classic 6-inch still the sweet spot, or is it worth going up to 7-8 inches for comfort? Any specific models you’d recommend and why?
Thanks a ton! 🙏
